Experiment 2: preliminary sketch

Re-create panther-skin from 'Seated Dionysos,' c. 520 B.C., Athens, National Museum, 3711.  Build up dimension, color, and texture through encaustic paint on flat sheet of marble.  First: the preliminary sketch (from Vinzenz Brinkmann, "The Polychromy of Ancient Greek Sculpture," in The Color of Life, ed. R. Panzanelli, Getty Publications (2008) 25).
